Weird Problem

Ok, so until recently I thought my sister's dell inspiron 6000 was dead, until i pulled it out the other day and it came on. The problem is, that after I turned it off the second time it came on, it won't come on again. The problem is that when I push the power button the lights light up, no sounds or anything, it just shuts down after like 3-5 seconds... any ideas people?

it looks like the classic mobo problem, but you can try a few things to help narrow down the problem.

Try removing the HD, CD ROM and booting off a single memory chip

Swap the memory chip (assuming you have 2) if not try swapping from a different laptop if available.
