I have been a very happy ThinkPad owner for years. Matter of fact, I have one on the couch and one under the coffee table. They both have been great and when I did need a repair, I called support and it was in Atlanta.
I bought the Sony based on a lot of good comments about the model and the brand. So I thought I should give Sony a try.
My track pad started acting up and now it rarely works when you try to move anywhere on the page. The funny thing is that it is almost normal when it is not plugged in. When you plug it in, the track freezes and you get movement once in a while. I am not running anything in the background and I reinstalled the latest firmware. Nothing helped.
I called the SonyStyle store and the guy told me to send it in before I could finish my statement. He then told me it could take 10 to 15 business days to fix.
To do this I called the warranty tech support line. When someone finally picked up there was a ton of static. He instantly went into script mode. "My brother set up a tech support call in center in Mexico." He was actually reading the think like its the first time he had ever seen it. Let me tell you how they hire these guys and girls in other countries. They put an ad in the paper looking for people that can speak "some english". They they walk them through the standard issued that come up and give them a book of so called steps to solutions.
I could tell this was going to lead to a reformat so I asked to speak with a manager. He said sure, can I put you on hold for a minute. 15 minutes later the line died.
I thought when I purchased this laptop the techs at the sonystyle store were there to help. Guess not.
I got a nice deal on this pc but I would love to return it. I cant afford to wait that long to get my pc back. Im going to move back to Thinpad even though I love almost everything about this laptop.
The 2 year accidental warranty I bought has something called express in the name or description but that does not seam to help.
Thanks for letting me rant.
If you have ever heard of this problem with my trackpad, let me know.
