Cross Link LAN Cable Clarification

HI,
I came to know that for connecting to computers directly i need a cross link LAN cable . i searched thru net and found two types of cross linking i.e.... 2pair cross link & 4 Pair crosslink... please tell me what is the advantage of one over another and which one should be followed for fast data transfer capability....can i connect two computers directly thru USB....Plz Help

Just get a basic Category 5 crossover cable. You don't need anything more.

That I understood boss but i want to know the difference between the two and their advantage ,I got the thing workin but i want to know dis for my knowledge...nyway thanx dude

Yeah, the one that crosses all 4 pairs is for Gigabit and they aren't too common. The reason Crossover's have become more and more scarce is that most Switches can automatically crossover the cable in the port.
