Micron Gx3 Powers Up To Transport Screen Only!

I hope someone can guide me in the right direction. I have 2 GX3 Micron laptops doing the same thing after I put them back together. Both units appear to be booting and only reach the Transport logo screen. The screen stays there for a minute then it goes black, but not off. I can not press F2 or anyother key to get inot Cmos. After about 2 min. the laptop powers off and I get 2 short beeps. The bios is a phoenix ver.4 release 16. I have tried pulling out cd rom and battery. I tried switching ram from a good unit. I am pulling my hair out on these. Please help if you can. Thanks in advance for your support. Phil

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I tried booting from a floppy with the bios update in case it worked, and sure enough it booted. I proceeded with the bios update and re-booted. The laptop goes into the bios "Transport" screen and then directly to the boot process. I can not access the cmos. I tried with the XP cd and once again it booted. I then installed the hard drive and you guessed it "booted". This is crazy. How can it boot but not go through the Post screens? i forgot to mention when it boots there are no more beeps (2). The other thing is it works on external monitor only???? Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks so much for the immediate help! Phil

He he he .. we are getting somewhere. The fact that it works on the external means that your gpu and board seem to be fine. Check out the inverter of the lcd first, before writing off the LCD itself.

I hate to say it but it will not boot now. I thought it would continue, but I must be cursed or something. I did the inverter and bingo it worked at least for the short time it did boot. What in Sam Hell could it be. Thanks for your help. So far you are 2 for 2!!!! Phil
