Hibernation problem on my netbook

Hi ... I have a problem with my netbook going into hibernation.

When there is a tab on my firefox browser open to a certain type of web page, it will fail to hibernate. If I close the offending web page, then no problem and my netbook goes into and out of hibernation normally. Many pages that have an embedded video on it are offenders, including all You Tube pages.

So, is there a certain browser or windows system setting that will tell my system to ignore these web pages and allow it to go into hibernation more easily?

I tend to browse with a lot of open tabs and this is a recurring problem -- until I can isolate the offending web page. And it's not the amount of open tabs that's the problem ... I still have the problem if only a couple of tabs are open but one of them is a You tube page.

I am on Windows XP with all current updates and service packs.

Anyone have a solution?

I am not sure, but hibernation happens when your comp is in idle mode. Having a browser with an active tab/window would prevent the comp from entering hibernating mode.

I use "save sessions" option of FF when I walked away from the comp, and close the browser when I am away for a while.

Another option to try is to set the screen saver at a period BEFORE the hibernation start-period.

cheers ...

Thanks for your reply, qhn. That is incorrect. My computer almost always hibernates with firefox and many tabs open at the same time. It is just with certain web pages -- such as You Tube pages and scoreboard pages -- that it won't hibernate.

No good. I tried your suggestion but that merely disables hibernation altogether.

I guess there is no way to get around it. I'll just have to avoid keeping certain web pages open. Not a big thing, but an annoyance. Hibernation theoretically should work no matter what type of web page the browser is open to.

What version of Firefox are you using? Any extensions?
