DELL STUDIO 1555 in game problems

Hey yall, i recently bought a Dell studio 1555, i have been using it for 10 days now and just yeterday i installed tom clancy's HAWX on it, after 5 minutes of playing the game it froze (crashed) and the screen turned from white to purple to other colours untill it went back to white... i thought it was the game so i tried playing COD 4, COD 5, Rainbow six V2, GRAW 2 and Far cry 2......they all run smoothly on high/medium graphics settings......but after a couple of minutes like 4 or 5 it crashes and the screen goes white and then fades from white to blue to purple then white.
the specifications of my laptop are as follows
-P8600 2.4ghz core 2 duo
-3GB RAM
-512mb dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
-320GB 7200rpm HDD
the problem only happens whenever i play games for a few minutes!!

ur help will be really appreciated!

Looks like your GPU is over heating on you, the only thing I can suggest is

1. Laptop Cooler
2. IK8FANGU fan control software - and when gaming use it to turn your fans on high

I mean I haven't searched this at all but you generally take Dell's advice with a grain of salt. Are you sure the laptop is not overheating? What are you using to monitor the temperatures? What are your peak temperatures?

Don't worry my friend, you are not alone in this problem. I have just received mine three days ago and have the EXACT same problem. Seems to be a product line wide problem.
Multiple reports of this hardware issue on the Malaysian Low Yat forums and the Australian Whirlpool forums.

I have email tech support regarding mine, if I don't get an answer next business day I'll call and demand for a refund or a hardware fix, I think it's a graphic card or motherboard hardware issue - they need to be replaced.

Good Luck!

lol If the laptop was working well, it would not be shutting down,

As zzpulp has said the Dell phone support people do not always know whats going on, and I to agree you should monitor your temps and if they are getting high your laptop will shut down just as you have described.

Dells BIOS fix if over heating is the problem, is probably to turn the fans on sooner, and hope it works.

Bottom line here, is if there is "known problem" and you sit waiting 30 days for a BIOS fix, you lose the 21 day return period.

they told me to wait untill they release the bios update version A05 this coming monday or tuesday. i am not heavily relying on what they say, i made it clear to them if the problem persists i am gona send them back the laptop. there is no overheating or a fan problem and my notebook doesnt shutdown on its own. it only crashes and then i have to manually shut it down. n ways thanx for the input.

There is really no way to know your notebook isn't overheating without monitoring the temperature somehow. While 5 minutes would seem a bit short to heat up enough to crash, it is certainly possible. Also, I'd classify an automatic reboot and a manual hard reboot in the same category - problematic. Anyway, didn't realize they gave you such a short time frame for an update. Hopefully, the update works out for you (and other users).

yes, let us know how it turns out, kinda sounds funny to me

I updated the Bios to the one released to day. and tried out my games on it, well it certainly stopped crashing 5 mins into the game...there seems to be no problem at the moment... played the game for hours and all is well...

they only said "Enhance Video Quality" in the Fixes comments

wonder what the bug really was.

Yeah, I'm curious what it was too. But hey, since we aren't the ones creating the bugs, it makes it hard for us to cure them (or understand the cure).
