I have a P6860-FX with the GPU heating problem. Disassembling it, I fixed the heating problem. Everything was fine except for the USB ports on the Left side, but I would just check that later. Even with the GPU at 65c, the laptop shutoff. But this time, it wouldn't turn on. Even with battery.
Disassembling it again, I see both the power and the USB ports are on the same 'small board'. Apart, I plug the battery in and the media bar. First, the media bar lit up, but no fans spinning. Then I tried it again, but no lights, just fans...but the fans stopped. Then with the harddrive in, I get a what I think is a full boot (maybe except for some 'no keyboard' or display errors). In that case, I plug in the LCD, but now it won't turn on at all.
I still plan on messing around with it some more, but in the meantime, any thoughts or suggestions? It has only shown to work with the battery.
