Reports are out today that the new EEE PC 1008HA by ASUS is to be priced at £359 ($518). The 1008HA was introduce at CeBit earlier this year and reports were a little better than luke warm.

It's helpful to remember that computers tend to be more expensive in Europe (and pretty much everywhere else) than they are in the USA

It's true that they tend to end up more expensive in Europe but usually prices listed are before VAT so they tend to translate pretty well. They then add VAT onto the price which drives it up around, I think, 20%.

At least IIRC that seemed to be the case when the 9" EEE came out, all the prices were originally listed in British pounds but they tended to translate to American dollars pretty well.

and it includes the standard required warranty of 2 years, at least in continental europe. Sorry, but the europeans do not consider the brits part of europe ;and I am sure that they feel the same way in return.

cheers ...
