Gateway MT6831 Service Manual

Thread Starter
I need to replace the dc power connector on my MT6831 laptop. Does anyone have a PDF download of the Service Manual for a MT6831 Gateway?

Try this one, use it as reference:

Hi there. I'm new to this forum. I have the same MT6831 Gateway laptop. I do pro audio and the factory processor isn't going to cut it. I heard Tigerdirect.com is a good place to buy parts because the personnel are supposed to be trained well. I called them and I bought an Intel 2.6 GHz Quad Core processor for $199. That's 2.6 GHz PER Core. (Part# CP2-DUO-Q6700) I'm sure the processor will fit because it is the same socket (775). I know it's a little late to ask, but is anyone aware of any issues I might encounter when putting a hi-performance processor in this laptop? I don't know much about this stuff. Thank you very much!

I am not even sure if you can squeeze a quad core in this machine, saying that it has a 945GM chipset.

So it's fair to say that there are other things to consider besides the socket? I guess I thought if the new processor fit the socket, then it would work. Is it just one of those things you won't know until you try to install it?

Yes, a couple things to consider are the front side bus (FSB) difference and whether or not the BIOS will accept an increase of processor size.
