5720 Broadband card questions - locked to either Verizon OR Sprint

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but are the 5720 Broadband cards "locked" to a specific carrier? Meaning can I give the ESN of the card to either Verizon OR Sprint, and have it work?

Looking to go the cheap route and get a 5720 off eBay, but I don't want to get stuck with a Sprint locked card when I want to use the Verizon service.

Thanks so much!

Don't feel bad about it being a stupid question. In fact its a pretty darned good one. I honestly can't tell you if your specific card is locked or not. I know sellers on eBay have been hocking them but don't specify which carrier they're for. HOWEVER, I do know that they can be locked (don't know if all of them are) to a provider. I had a customer a while back with a brand new Precision M65 and a 5720 that Sprint couldn't activate for her. Problem was, Dell installed the Verizon card at the factory AND sent me ANOTHER Verizon card as a replacement. After we found this out, Dell sent me one that Sprint could activate.

I bought my card on eBay over a year ago. I can't 100% remember if I made sure it said it was a Sprint card specifically or not. I have a spare 5720 that I also purchased for testing purposes. I can see if Sprint will activate that secondary card and if they can, odds are there are unlocked cards floating about. I do remember the second one didn't specify what carrier it was for.

Thanks so much for your reply! The interaction with your customer pretty much answered it for me...so I did a little more investigation. Which pretty much involved just looking at pictures to correlate and confirm part numbers.

Dell 5720:
Verizon = KR-0MN624 (shortened MN624)
Sprint = KR-0XM359 (shortened XM359)

Alternately for Verizon there is the Dell 5700 (KR-0CF265 or CF265)

I know some of the eBay sellers were good about specifying the part number, and sometimes the correct network...but as with many things on eBay, you can't make assumptions and you should know before you buy!

Thanks again!
