Okay well i just bought this toshiba satellite laptop about 2 weeks ago. It has vista home premium. I got a Belkin G wireless router. I set it up and it worked fine, except for some things. I downloaded Kaspersky and adaware. And when i went to update them it would give me a "internet connectivity problem". I also can't play some games online like Halo, Gunbound, Company of Heros, Pokerstars and ect. I tried shutting down my windows firewall, my wifi firewall, and my routers firewall. The problem continues to happen. I have comcast high speed internet. The desktop that is connected to the router does not have these problems. I tried connecting the laptop directly to the modem and i still get the same BS. If any of you have any info on this please help. Any word of advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Restore to your comp before you installed Kapersky and the adware app; or just disable these 2, one by one, and see any differences

I already uninstalled both. Same.

You mentioned that the wifi set up worked, except for some things. What were those things?

You were able to download Kapersky and adware, after these 2 installations, wifi stopped working. Removing both of these apps did not get you back to where wifi worked before.

Do you have a system restore point that you can go back to? Is your Vista up to date?

Were you online for a time before you downloaded and installed Kaspersky. Just wondering if a virus might have snuck in. Could try going to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and do an online virus scan then download, install then update Malwarebytes then run it

Well i downloaded the programs. And then once the program was downloaded it was unable to update. That was the point I found out about the problem. This was the first day i got the laptop. After i downloaded the programs i could still get online and go to sites, im using the laptop right now writing this up. I just can't update programs, or play games online.

Let me try to recap.

. You can access the Internet for files downloading, mail, surfing.
. You cannot update any (?) programmes, and cannot play on-line games.
. Can you update Windows?

Try disabling UAC and try again, or review your user profile security/admin rights settings.

Sounded like your profile rights are all turning upside down. Rather than digging around without having the whole configuration in front, my suggestion is to perform a system repair or reinstallation.

You could try a system restore with the factory disks or disks you made or try Alt+F10
. Tthis would take it right back to "out of the box" so all programs data would be lost and have to be re-entered
