Ok..so..I got this terrible...(everex eXplora RS2800)

...desktop...it was free...now I know why.

It's got 512 megs of DDR PC3200 CL3 RAM and a "2800+ AMD Sempron 1.6ghz" "3DNow! SSE, SSE2 L2cache 256k" processor. Built in sound, built in graphics...

I'm not having much luck finding decent specs or information on what can be done to this to make it at least a marginally worthwhile machine.

Anybody have any experience with this brand/model and what can be done upgradewise to make it better?

Thx DarqHelmet but Darth Gate's schwartz is still bigger than yours... or at least it's still reliable and consistent on most of the sites I've used for the past 20 years or so... ok, so no flame war (even know I know thems fightin words...) over this...k? (I now linux has the potential to be a much better sytem, but it's still not as universal as it needs to be for common computing needs these days...and this is a hardware upgrade question anyway so f00q /^\@/\| let's leave this to the hardware ppl huh?)

Boston, thanks for the question answering the question...but still, I'm looking for anyone who knows anything about a terrible, bargain basement desktop commonly sold by wal mart...and a couple other places...

Maybe if we knew what exactly you wanted to do with it, we could recommend some hardware changes to help you suit those goals.

ok Boston, I see where you are coming from here and I'm gonna suit my answer as read.

I want to take this comprooter to the most it can be had having it's current mamabored...

But seriously, if you know anything about this particular motherboard, is it strictly 400megs...or more...

I want to take it as far as it goes without installing a new motherboard...(eg. swap cpu and ram)...

if you know anythign else about his comp, let me know...

The machine is expandable to 2GB of DDR1 memory. It also has an AGP slot for video upgrades.

After I little research i found that it's an UltraSlim Desktop. The memory is expandable to 2GB in the type that you listed.

Depending on the chipset (which you need to post here) I believe you could possibly upgrade the CPU to a 3100+ or even 3200+. But I'm not certain. I can't find the exact chipset this PC uses. You may be able to find it on the motherboard. Even a motherboard brand and model number would help.
