Video or IRQ Issues

Hi all,

I am having an issue with my sisters computer and have been unable to work out the issue.

She mentioned when she switched it on one day it just goes to boot into windows and it will reset itself just before it goes to the windows loading screen.

If I put in the windows install disc and click through to the F8 repair it will go to go find the windows installs and then give me a IRQ less or equal screen. It will also not boot into safe mode.

So I believe it maybe either a IRQ conflict or a video issue.

I have run ramtest with no errors so I counted that out. I have also pulled the video card out and ran just the onboard video (which might be the problem causing it).

I have included a picture of the screen as an attachement.

Thanks for any help!

can you boot into safe mode? this would be an easy way to find out if your IRQ conflict theory is correct.

It isnt a notebook, its a computer desktop.

The motherboard in it is a gigabyte. 775 slot and running a p4 3.0ghz.

Ah! Well then, remove all of the PCI cards out of the machine and boot it. Obviously you need to keep the video card in, unless you have a VGA port on your motherboard.

I'm also moving this to our Desktop support section.

Sorrry I didnt know there was a desktop section or I would of put it in there.

I believe I tried pulling out those but will try it again!

Make sure they are all removed. And boot the computer with no PCI cards.

Hi Steve, yeh I actually had them removed before. Still the same issue.

I am trhinking maybe its an issue with the video chip on the motherboard. But its hard to tell.

I tried running Seagate disk program off Hirens and it said something about a display error.
