Ericsson's F3607gw Wake-On Module With Kill Switch

Some of you may recall a posting made here a while ago about Intel and Ericsson teaming up to create a laptop kill switch with GPS. Well, that product is now officially announced. Debuted at the CTA Wireless show, it is called the F3607gw. It is officially a HSPA/GPRS/EDGE broadband module which also has some additional features.

First it allows your laptop to be in sleep mode and automatically wake in the case of important security announcements or updates, has a built in GPS chip, and

the module works with Intel's Anti-Theft Technology so you can remotely disable (via SMS) the laptop you left behind at happy hour. The module can even send its location data to a central server for recovery. Once recovered, a second SMS will unlock your portable and make all your data accessible again
Some companies have already signed up for this technology including: Dell, LG, Lenovo, and Toshiba.
