It is gonna be tough, looking like that everyone is holding on to this machine out there. Taking in that new price was at 1500-1800 quids (GBP) in 2006, you should be able to command a good 800-1100 quids, due to the LCD resolution. It is still a good machine.

cheers ...

I've got to disagree. I don't think it's worth over $400 (£273) currently. It's based on 2005 technology, and that's 4 years old now. Everything sold now has dual core CPUs, and a single-core system just isn't worth that much. While it is a nice system for its time, it's just not worth much now.

edit: just check on eBay and one was being sold for £300, but had no bids. You'd probably have better luck than that seller if you sold it for between £200 and £250

Selling it for parts would get more

Bet is on Dj - someone offers the OP a good price now

tell you what, Q. If you can find someone who'd pay $1000 for my computer (Asus Z71V with similar specs as kyle's computer - 2.26 Ghz Pentium M, Nvidia 6600, 2 GB RAM, 80GB HD, 15.4" 1680x1050 screen, modular bay), then I'll believe you that someone would pay that much for kyle's comp.

Well, we are talking about a Sony here, DJ. And that is no offence to your comp model/brand or any others. Sony users, like Mac users (me included), have a funny notion about why paying more for something that can be had for less

I mean this doesn't sound like a bad idea because I had my screen replaced just 2 months ago, and that alone costs about £300 brand new. (GBP)

I just checked that laptop on Ebay, it turns out that is the 15.4 in. model, with a 1.8GHz core with a 150 Gig HDD. Mine is 17.1in with 2.0 GHz and 160 Gig HDD.

Users are holding on to this model for some reasons. As I mentioned earlier, selling for parts would bring in more money than sellling it as a whole. Other than being old, this laptop can still perform greatly.

Hope you can sell it, if not, a classic working piece on the desk? Heck, my eMachines M6805 is still the centre of attention

I haven't a clue how and where i would sell it in parts... I'm not very good at taking things to pieces... I tend to break them :/

Why dont just start with some private Sony forums, or eBay even, and Craiglist? Put in there an offer to sell. Just to have a feel of what you can get out of it.
