Asus & Lenovo pull ahead of Apple in latest reliability ratings

PC Repair outfit Rescuecom just released ratings for the first quarter of 2009, and based on complaints they received about each brand compared to the brand's market share, they determined that Asus and Lenovo notebooks shared the title of "most reliable". The two brands both overtook Apple, which was number 1 in the last rating.

The reason that both brands were considered tied even though Asus had a superior rating was because

"although Asus is the leader this quarter with a reliability score of 972, Asus's reliability score should be taken with a grain of salt, even though it was more than 600 points ahead of IBM/Lenovo. We look forward to seeing if Asus is able to maintain the same demand and reliability over the coming quarters," says David A. Milman, Rescuecom's founder and CEO.

They tie for the highest rating instead of having it by themselves because their market share grew so much that the company thought the low incidence of problems could be a fluke. They feel they'll have a better idea after next quarter's rating.
