The folks over at LaptopMag were able to get their hands on the MSI X340 overnight during the CTIA Mobile Focus event in Las Vegas to give it a test run and run some benchmarks on it.
The 13.4" X340, which is expected to sell for under $1000, makes use of a 1.2 GHz CULV processor in a package weighing 2.8 lbs and measuring just .7" thick.
The notebooks seems sturdy according to Laptop Mag's Mark Spoonauer
As to benchmarks he has this to say
And as to battery life you can expect to get 3 hours on the standard 4-cell battery or up to 6 hours on the optional 8-cell batter. The very similar X320 (also by MSI) which makes use of the Atom processor instead gets 4-5 hours on the 4-cell and around 8 on the 8-cell, which gives perspective buyers a tough decision: Greater performance or increased battery time.

| We like the overall look and feel of the X340, but it’s not without some flaws. The glossy lid feels sturdy, and we like that the MSI logo lights up when the notebook is in use. The deck, however, felt kind of hollow when we tapped it. Despite some complaints we’ve heard elsewhere, the keyboard didn’t exhibit much flex. The keys provide a nice springy feedback when typing. The right Shift key is a bit small, but otherwise the layout is full size. |

| On Geekbench, which measures total system performance, the X340 scored 952. That’s 175 points higher than the NC10, and 138 points higher than the Dell Inspiron Mini 12, which has a 1.6-GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor. We’ll be running a lot more benchmarks on the final production unit. |
