So I'm going to buy a laptop soon, and its going to be used mainly for audio recording and video games. These are the three I'm looking at now:

http://canadacomputers.com/index.php...63&cid=896.645
http://canadacomputers.com/index.php...87&cid=896.645
http://canadacomputers.com/index.php...95&cid=896.638

I know the ocz diy and the asus barebone are fairly similar. Just wondering if its worth it to spend the extra 400-500$ for the asus n50v? also not sure what diy (do it yourself, i know, but do what yourself?) or barebone means, i have a feeling theres some sorta catch for the price.

Barebone systems are sold to resellers (and sometimes to end users) without processor, memory, or hard drive. The 2 on that site have been assembled by Canada Computers (i.e. they added the processor, memory, and hard drive) and your warranty for those systems would be through Canada Computers, not MSI or Asus. The only real negatives I can see about the barebones you listed is they're both based on slightly older technology and they both have 8600M GT video cards, which are subject to a fault Nvidia announced a while ago that could cause them to easily overheat.

The N50Vn is based on newer (current) technology, has a faster processor and more powerful video card than the other two, and is covered by Asus' warranty. Those are the reasons it's more expensive.

Thanks, I realized afterwards that the specs said no operating system, so I am gonna end up going with the n50vn unless you have any other suggestions for the same price that's available to Canada?
