Area 51m 7700 White Vertical Bar on Display

I tried contacting alienware about this but they no longer support this system. I was trying to sell it for some funds and today I get a nice white vertical bar on the screen. It does not take up much of the screen, is probably 5 inches wide and extends from the top of screen to the bottom. I reseated the video card, memory and inverter board. The display does not display the white bar on an external display. Would it be the LCD screen itself or the graphics card? I would appreciate all help

Also it shows up as soon as I turn the system on and does not go away. After about 30 seconds, the bar flickers and then turns black. It stays that way until I turn the computer off. Then when I power it back up, the white bar shows back up and starts all over again.

No, I haven't but I will give it a try. This is my first time posting. Here is a picture for you guys to reference. One thing I noticed is that after I shut it down and it cooled (approx 4-5hours), it took 5-6 times of powering it on and off before it ever came on to the boot screen.

This is what it looks like once it has been on for about 3-4 minutes. The bar starts out white when first powered on.

Looks like a screen problem. You can try connecting an external monitor to the system. If its not present on external monitor its unlikely your video card.

You could try reseating the LCD cable. If you take up the keypad, unscrew the metal plating underneath that then remove the plastic strip (where the power button etc is) there are two cables, one sends the data to your LCD the other is the power. Obviously make sure your system is powered off and you have taken the battery out. Remove the cable reseat.

If this doesn't work you are looking at a faulty screen/faulty screen cable.

Regards
