NX9420 volume display, this is nuts

I rebuilt my NX9420 still running well and put the SoundMax driver in. When I press the volume keys, I get the onscreen display which I don't want. I can't seem to remember how to turn it off, remove it or whatever. Its the display with the speaker displayed at each end and I want the volume display using another ehtray driver.

As I said, this is nuts I can't remember how to tunr this off.

Disabling (not removing) some HP start up apps and see?
