OK - Greedy another 6400

OK so I already have an M6400 with rather good spec's but while looking on a few auction sites spotted this

M6400
1900x1200 LED RGB display
FX3700
QX9300

other bits and pieces (4 gig 2x2 gig 1066, bluetooth 1x350gig & 1x250gig 7200 rpm drives)

Now I already have a 6400 which I paid $2,000 AU for but I'm keen on the LED display which is what I don't have so what I'm thinking of doing is buying the "new" 6400 and selling my "old" 6400 (chasing the display but will swap out my extra ram so I still have 8 gig)

so my questions are:

1> need a quick sale on my current 6400 - is $3000AU excessive (T9600, FX3700 - 4 gig ram, 1900 x 1200 display CCF not LED 2x120gig 7200 RPM drives - no warranty)

2> what would you pay for the "new" 6400 (in my mind $2300 delivered).

and yes I'm greedy if I can sell mine for more than what I will pay then I'm better off, but ebay from what I can see indicates I should get a quick sale on my current 6400 for my current spec's.

Yes money is tight the key is to sell before I need to pay credit card or only carry debt for say 1 month.

Thoughts???? - Not trying to overprice the system just want to upgrade to the LED screen without paying around $800AU

(current exchange rate is $.71c as of today to US so you can do a conversion)

Its not a bad price you are trying to sell it for but if you're trying to sell it quickly I don't think that price will get it for you (its $2130 US from head calculation). As a comparison, you can get a M6400 from US Outlet for around $1750 (or $1890 taxed). The M6400 has 2.26 C2D, 3700M, 4 GB RAM, 120 GB 7200 RPM HD, WXGA+, and 3 years onsite nextday warranty. Now you have considerably better processor and screen (hd too) but those outlet M6400's aren't exactly selling like hotcakes so I wouldn't expect your laptop to either. Of course, I could be completely wrong (a month is a long time).

How does a notebook 6 month's old max,that are sold with 3 year warranty's....not have a warranty?

Wouldn't pay 2k let alone 3k,as nice as it is,just not worth the risk on electronic's....especially notebook's.

Without warranty it's basically what someone is prepared to pay...there is no market price imo.

the lack of warranty is your biggest issue, but then again people on Ebay are notorious for bidding too much for laptops

im not sure if 3rd party warranties will apply to AU but thats worth looking at. I recently purchased a laptop as a gift for someone and warranty was offered by a third party thats reputable called squaretrade however im not sure if they operate in AU.

Wow - chased this up to $2,500 then decided enough is enough - just checked the auction after I decided to walk.

ended up sold for $4,534 - yep thats not all - + auction fee 15%

= $5214 + delivery (yep another $40) so all up they paid a whopping $5254 for this unit.

hell I thought I was pushing it at $2,500

Sign up for coupon alerts at some of those bargain hunter sites for the Dell Outlet. Couple weeks ago there was 15% off any outlet Precision, so you could've had a similar setup for around $3k US (depending on selection of course). Do they ship to AU? Not a clue man...

I do not think Dell US ships outside the USA. or I would have bought many ore laptops from Dell

You would have toi get someone within the US to buy it and ship to you.

OK in Aus, we don't really have an outlet or scratch & dent - well we kind of do............................

Dell in Au sell all their return units through Graysonline - they also have an outlet but almost never has any actual laptops for sale.

The unit I brought is called a second over here, the original owner returned this to Dell who then place it on graysonline as a second - and remove the warranty hence the lack of one. You can contact dell and buy one but me I'm well not cheap but figure if something breaks I can swap it out for less than the warranty.

So when I brought my 9400 4 odd years ago now I replaced the 7800go for a mates 7900go then upgraded it to the 7950GTX. Had a few HDD failures, contemplated replacing the T2600 for a T7600, replaced the lid and base with that for an XPS 1710 placed artic silver on the CPU. Decided to but a M6400 and sell the 9400.

For the M6400 I have already replaced the screen from my 9400 so it's now 1900 x 1200 (CCFL) swapped out the HDDs for 2 x 500 gig 7200 rpm & installed a HSDPA card (for cell wireless internet) from a mini 9. So the only real problems this unit "may" have will be mobo & GPU - So right now I'm possibly the only person with a M6400 with a built in GPS (thanks to the HSDPA card).

Anyway the M6400 rocks, still considering an RGB LED display but if I do this then will replace the lid and base and convert it to a Covet!!!

Yes for us in Ausi that is the only option - we don't get the cheap deals on these that I see in the USA
