Need Help on Inspiron E1505

Good Day All.

I have inherited a dell inspiron e1505 bought 2 years ago by my sister. Apparently it's in very bad shape. The partitions were all deleted including the hidden ones and re-installing any OS is near impossible (at least til i get help). What the laptop has now is a partition for drive c: and the rest...unallocated disk space..that's it.

How can I customize a partition for DSR and can I request for a DSR image copy from any of the users here? I'm not quite sure but I think I need the image copy to create a customize DSR or at least restore its functionallity.

Please help

So the computer does not work now? And you do not have the Windows CD to reinstall?

Yes, it's not working anymore. When I received it and turned it on, it will say that bootmgr is missing. I didnt get any cd (windows, utilities, etc..) from my sister when she gave it to me. I figured that it's long gone since it was bought a couple of years back.

I think my problem is more on the dsr partition primarily and the other partitions and how to restore it or at least its functionality, since all partitions were wiped out other than c:. I read on the old threads and i believe there's a way. The problem is I can't get my hands on a ghost image copy of the dsr partition. If I can obtain one, I could probably try the workarounds discussed in the restore threads here.

'Hope someone can help me out.

Problem is, most users here delete those partitions and make their own backups with acronis or another program. A much easier option would be to get a Dell OEM windows cd somehow. Then you could just reinstall yourself and use the drivers from Dell's site. Yes, this route will cost you money and its not exactly abiding by M$'s terms of use but its what I would do to fix the computer.

Thanks for that advice but doing that or anything that would entail cost would likely be last on my list. Funds are meager and i need to get a part time job to have disposable income.

If someone is willing to give me a copy of their dsr backup, would really really really appreciate it, else, I guess this would be the end of a good notebook.
