MT6729 DVD Burner failed

The burner has failed, won't open unless you use a paper clip and it isn't in the device list nor viewable from Windows Explorer.
I want to purchase a new one from Newegg;
ModelBrandLITE-ONTypeSlim DVD BurnerModelDS-8A1P-18C
LITE-ON Black 8X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 6X DVD+R DL 8X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-RAM 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-R 24X CD-RW 24X CD-ROM IDE Slim 8X DVD Burner - OEM

Does anyone know if this will work in the gateway laptop? If you access their website they make a couple reccomendations but their all $200 while the Lite-On from Newegg weighs in at $45
I'm not sure of the form factor. don't know if it's IDE of SATA.
Thanks for any help you may offer.

It should work, just make sure that the current bezel (face plate) can be matched to the release button.

IDE or SATA on an optical drive - never worry about it

cheers ...
