Anyone built an Asus barebones?

Hi Guys

I have a pretty simple question I need answered pretty urgently. I just picked up a asus m6n barebones (actually called a a-stone l7000 here) to replace my shocking aopen 1557gls. It's just arrived and unfortunately I cannot for the life of me work out how to get to the motherboard to install the cpu etc. I figure it is under the keyboard but I can't see any obvious way to get under it. I've undone every screw on the back of the unit (around 20 or so) on the back of the notebook but it doesn't seem to come apart and obviously I don't want to push and pull things too rigurously. So basically does anyone have any guides on how I can get to the cpu section of the asus barebones?

thanks in advance

take out the two screws marked with a k< , then take a flathead screwdriver and slide it about over the #1 key, below the power button, and above the del or backspace button on the righthand side. There are springs that should raise it up... Take the keyboard out and you've got access to the RAM, mici PCI, and graphics chips, not to mention the cables for the keyboard, touchpad, power and quick launch buttons and the cables for the LCD.

Enjoy.

put a screwdrive under the left and right sides, and push.... pop it up.. you're not going to break it, I swear. It'd be a $5 part at most anyway......

then flip that up, putt out the power cable if you find it's in your way.........

Slide the metal cover with the spings on it over to the left and out.... there you go.

The minipci is on the left covered with a panel and one screw and ovbiously the cpu is on the right with four screws....

Thats it.

mrboston thankyou so much! i've been looking at those clips all night but didn't have the guts to lever them all installed now. You wouldn't believe it one of the screws for the heatsink snapped! used another one from the system to replace it so it's all goodjust missing one screw now.

initial impressions are it's a much higher quality unit than the aopen

once again thanks mrboston i really do appreciate it
