You're not a Mac fan or she's not a Mac fan?

Cause if it's just you, then don't you owe it to her to at least give her the option?

ended up getting a vaio cs215j/w from best buy. looks cool. unbelievably, she "doesn't have time now to mess around with it", can you believe that. she is going to let it sit in the box until next weekend... i always mess around for hours.

one thing though, it didnt come with os cd's, do i need to call dell to get them? i have a 500 gb hd to install on it so i need actual discs

i dont know if sony does it differently now, but they used to give you the option to create a recovery installation disc from a partition on the OEM drive. If they still do, use a blank DVD to create the backup which you can then image to your new drive. It will explain how in the documentation, and the computer itself will make the suggestion to you after you turn the machine on the first time.

Unless of course you have an external enclosure which fits the new drive, which would allow you to use a program like symantec ghost to create an image on the new drive before you took out the old one.
