Not that big of a deal for me, just thought you may want to know.
hmm.. I've got the new one showing up for me in my AdminCP tab, but the old animated one in the regular forum tab. I wonder if it takes a while to migrate over or something..

edit: I just talked to Shaun and he said that's almost exactly what happens. The favicon gets cached and can take a little while to show up.

Its been quite a while now, I have tried several browsers on several computers, clear all offline data from other browsers, Im still getting the scrolling favicon or none at all.... any one any ideas here? same problems?

Its weird because I'm definitely still getting the scrolling favicon but when I restart a session in Opera (and Firefox?) while disconnected from the internet, I see the new favicon.

your opinion has been noted. I'm sorry you don't like it.

However, I respectfully disagree. I just tested on 5 different browsers and didn't find any where the white background of the favicon was intrusive.

Even though the favicon that ended up being chosen isn't your favorite, you can still use your artistic talents to help the site. We're looking for some new icons to indicate forums with new threads, forums without new threads, and linked forums. We'd love to see any icons you come up with in the icon thread: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread226788.html

Intrusive no, but that doesnt mean it wouldn look 100% better if you replace the white pixels surrounding the laptop w/ transparent ones. This has nothing to do w/ which favicon was chosen, while not not my firs or fifth choice(I do still like it!), I fully accept the new design as being superior to using the VB one(which, aside from all my whining, was my original goal). But it could still be improved w/o *changing he icon, just make the surrounding pixels transparent, then its a icon of a laptop, not of a laptop on a white square.

I still see the scrolling one. But Arch's point sounds interesting. Nothing says "1980's tile-based RTS game than solid 'backgrounds' ". Transparent backgrounds could go a long way....maybe try the current one out on several backgrounds, see how it looks under those conditions?

The favicon shows up on my bookmarks. But still using the animated one when going to the site. I did clear all caches, cookies, histories etc ...

cheers ...

I think there may be favicons placed in sub directories of the main forum directoy that did not get removed and is messing with the one in the main root forums folder being used for all subfolders.

I have no idea. that's Shaun's department. Feel free to send him a private message if you think there's something that could have been overlooked.

There's no other favicons that I see that I may have mistakenly put in an other directory.

I like the new favicon, but I have to agree with arch, it would look a lot better without the white background.

probably, but for people (like me) who use a dark skin on their browser, the favicon would not be able to be seen.
