Expensive Gaming Laptops Are "Behind Us"

PCMag.com has a great write up about how the expensive power hungry notebook/laptop market may be dead with the release of a few well performing gaming notebooks, the Alienware M17 (review coming this week on NBF) and the CyberPower Xtreme Gamer M1. Both notebooks put up excellent frame rates and costing around $2000 equipped with dual ATI Radeon HD 3879 graphics cards.

You might think that the inclusion of a high-end graphics card at this price would limit other gaming features and attributes, but that's hardly the case. Both the M17 and the M1 come with high-resolution (1,920-by-1,200) screens, illuminated keyboards, and the gamut of connectivity ports. The M1 even includes a Blu-ray reader for your high-def enjoyment
It's worth the read here.

Very nice to see that the main brand name finally waking up to the competition of Gateway, Asus, MSI in the gaming area. One needs not to be "so" outrageously priced to win customers.

cheers ...

I dont think its main brands waking up, i think its just parts are a lot cheaper than they used to be. And more efficient.

Thats a hot laptop, but the high cost is mainly due to the Blu-ray player. You don't need a blu-ray player to play the best games. My Review of the m17 will be out shortly.

from the list, it looks like the high cost is mainly from the CPU. Intel always likes to price their top CPU exorbitantly.

Parts are always constant in prices. Just the name brand and the putting these parts together, that most peoples are paying for. Some brands put their machines together better than others.

Oh, and the special service of course.

cheers ...

yea the CPU is the culprit here, and im not sure that a quad helps with most current games. looking forward to your review of the M17. if i get a gaming rig vs a Mac, it will be either the sager above or the M17.
