9800m Temps?

Per my thread a few weeks ago, I purchased a G50vt-X5. First of all I LOVE IT! That out of the way, two questions:

1. What is the average load temp range on the 9800m cards in them. When I am playing WoW on it, I hit my windows key once in a while to check the speedfan reported temp on the GPU and once in a while I find it as hot as 80C. Is this a normal temp for it under load? Idle is of course much lower.

2. Is it ok to hook it up to an external 1600x1200 native res 19 inch monitor and run WoW at 1600x1200 even though that is above the max res of the build in LCD? Is the card meant to run at the 1366x768 native res of the onboard LCD and not 1600x1200? I am asking because I tried this and to my suprise the frame rate within WoW was still very high, almost more FPS than at 1366X768 which confused me a bit but I figured I would try it out a bit. I did, it ran great but I checked the GPU temp and it was at 81C. I thought this might be too hot and I was pushing the card to hard or something so I went back to the onboard screen.

Thoughts?

1. sounds ok. it shouldnt go too much over that

2. yes of course you can. the output of VGA, DVI or HDMI has no baring on your LCD screen's res limit.

1. 85 C or lower is a good temp for the GPU of a gaming laptop.

2. What Steve said is right but I think you were asking a different question. The 9800m, being an enthusiast card, typically is put in machines that run resolutions of at least 1440 x 900, and probably more commonly 1920 x 1200. You could even game at higher resolutions than this if your monitor and game supported it.
