m4300 nvidia quadro fx360m - no good resolution on ubuntu - hellP?

Thread Starter
Hi,
I have tried it all on my dell m4300 with this nvidia card and I can't get a good laptop screen resolution.

no one on the ubuntu forums seems to be able to help.

Can anyone help me? Why is this such a big issue? I have updated the system entirely, tried xrandr, nvidia-xconfig, and a ton of stuff with no luck

With Nvidia, you need to load proprietary drivers. Go to System> Administration. Click on Hardware Drivers and let it run. It should show Nvidia drivers. Choose the one you want. If nothing shows up, you need to expand the repositories that Ubuntu checks for updates/drivers. In the same System> Administration> click on Software Sources and check the check-box in front of "Proprietary drivers for devices (restricted)". Hope that helps.
