Firewire card question

Thread Starter
I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 that I purchased a few years ago. I am taking it with me on vacation in June. I plan to bring my camcorder along as well.

The problem is while my desk top has a firewire card for transfering video from the camera to the computer, the laptop does not. So I will have n way right now to make any transfers.

Is it possible to add a firewire card to my Dell after market or is there another option I'm not aware of? Thanks for any tips/suggestions.

If I am not mistaking, your comp should have a firewire port. All you need is a cable.

I'll be darned, you're right. It does have a firewire port. It s a 4 pin port located on the back. I've had this laptop for 2 years and never knew that.

Just goes to show, sometimes you have to RTFM.
