Windows 7 - Installation, tips and inputs

Just wondering what any impressions on this build are. I also haven't hopped on the Windows 7 bandwagon yet, but sort of want to try it instead of sticking to Vista for longer. I wanted to know if it needs a key code to be activated/used, and if anybody had one/a keygen or whatever was necessary.

Thanks!

I haven't used it, but if you want to, here are instructions direct from Microsoft:

Here’s what you can do to bypass the check for pre-release upgrade IF YOU REALLY REALLY NEED TO:

1. Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD.
2. Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build).
3. Browse to the sources directory.
4. Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad.
5. Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000 (pictured below).
6. Save the file in place with the same name.
7. Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed.

Just thought I'd let everybody know that the Windows 7 7100 build is very stable, had good driver support, etc. Very well done.

Theres the link for the beta keys. You'll need a live or hotmail account and these keys will work with win7 RC as well

I've been using Win7 since 7000 and I'm in love. I've been using it as my main OS and have been gaming on it as well.

Have just installed Windows 7100 (as in today) - seems little different compared to the 7000 build - except I now have managed to get some drivers installed for the fingerprint reader.

As far as stable is concerned there your fine - even the beta 7000 build was stable lightyears ahead of the Vista Beta I tried which BSOD'ed constantly. The beta key will work fine on the 7100 build and activate.
