CX2720 - Error Message when Reinstalling XP

Thread Starter
I've got a Gateway CX2720 laptop and I was intending on scrubbing it and reinstalling XP onto it this afternoon when. However, I ran into a problem that I didn't expect. When I put the CD and start the setup I get the following error message:

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and proplrly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program."

I bought the laptop used and don't have any software for it. I downloaded the drivers from Gateway's website but I don't have any original software that would have come with it.

Any help here? I would greatly appreciate it!

Try to Disable SATA Native support from BIOS

I hit F2 and went into the BIOS but I didn't see an option for that. Did I miss it? Could you guide me to the right place?

. Anything like disabling AHCI in the BIOS?

. If you don't see/have these options, then the best bet is to get the SATA driver, then slip streaming it into your XP installation disk.

cheers ...
