I ordered my FW notebook Monday evening, and it already arrived on Friday. Sony had quoted 8 days to build/test/package, and I had the standard 5 day shipping, but it got sent out in 2 days, and Fedex got it to me in 2 more days (why pay for express shipping?). We must be in the middle of a recession if they process orders that fast.
My first impression -- I love it. I love the 1600x900 resolution. I was slightly shocked that this 16.4" screen is actually almost 16.4"! My old supposedly 17" HP zt3000 was actually 15.5" diagonal. There are only some annoyances from update windows, etc, but it was easy to get online, and to configure my email. Vista recognized my Microsoft cordless mouse and found a driver for it right away. I installed my MS Office 2003 and it is running fine. I did my recovery disks, which took about 2 hours on two DVD+R dual layer disks. There are loads of configuration things to do, software to load, data to load, etc. I will do a review before too long with other observations, benchmarks, etc.
