XPS M1730 Vista reinstall

Hi guys and girls

Today I will get my XPS M1730 (warranty replacement for my Gen2). I'll get it with Vista Home Premium 32bit and I have a few questions.

1. Is the installation by dell "bloated" with unnecessary stuff?
2. If it is, I plan to reinstall Vista with a retail Ultimate DVD my friend has bought. Can I use the serial on the backside of my computer for this installation to get a clean Home Premium installation?
3. Will I need to activate afterwards, like call MS or something?

Also, I'd like your input on going 64bit. I ordered the "SB Audigy" addon (which I thought was hardware but apparently its just software). This is not available for Vista 64bit it seems. However, I have seen a set of creative software from a guy called "daniel_k" floating around. Has anyone tried this software for Vista 64bit on the M1730?

Any help/input is appreciated.

OEM installation contains bloated software for some, and just right for others.

I personally disable all 3rd party AV and Firewall that come with it, along with unneeded star up processes and service.

Might not work with your OEM key, MS call for sure.

You don't have to activate any keys for Dell systems + Dell OEM OS disk combo.

The Product key for your OEM Vista will not work with any other Vista package. The machine will be bloated for sure. I always format my hard drive when I get a new notebook and start a clean install, but as was mentioned above, there is stuff in the bloat that you may find usefull.

I'm running Vista 64-bit and have had any problems, but from time to time someone tells me that the drivers for the 64-bit are not as tested as the 32-bit.

Ok, so you say that I must use the Vista DVD that came from Dell?

If I use this DVD, do I have any options regarding partitioning the drive, or will the computer end up exactly as it was when I got it (one c: partition 220GB and recovery partitions etc)?
