What should I replace Gateway P-7805u with?

If I can sell my Gateway P-7805U to my sister, what would you replace it with? I am a gamer and don't want to spend a ton. Is the P-7805 the best budget gamer laptop out there? I got the 1920x1080 screen on mine. I looked at alienware M17 and a dell xps M1730, but in order to beat the gateway I'd have to spend twice as much. Any ideas? I like the 17" chassis for size. I had an XPS M1330, which was nice, but I couldn't game on it much and the screen size ended up being too small to watch videos on. I like 17" or larger.

Yep, it is currently the best budget gaming machine out there.

Darn, so I should hang onto it. My sis is looking for a great bang for the buck laptop for $750 or under final cost. I was trying to find a dell xps 16 or maybe a loaded studio 17 with the good LED 1920x1200 screen, but haven't found any good deals yet. What do you suggest?

WUXGA for 750$ - it is gonna be tough, you are talking a bare minimum system here. Check out HP or Toshiba and see.

You might have to settle with 17" 1440x900 in order to get some new systems for the price that you are going for,

I agree, but I'd consider used as well. I've been checking the dell outlet and ebay as well.

I think that lower resolution would be alright for her as well. It's just the gamer in me that wants the high resolution. I've been looking for some used gateway notebooks that are a bit older than the P-7805U that have good graphics cards in them, but haven't found any steals, yet.

You probably get better luck with used systems, but still, the WUXGA requirement will not bring in an easy under 1000 price range.

I'd really like to avoid integrated graphics if possible. How is the intel 4500?

I checked, and that 4500 is worse than the 8400 I had in my xps m1330....which couldn't even play heroes of might and magic 5 without studdering badly. That's out of the question. Any other ideas?

Have you checked out the For Sales and Wanted to Buy and Price Check Sections of NBF?

You can get some ideas or put up some queries for what you can get with the requirements that you like to see.

I'm browsing as we speak. Thanks for the tip. Many people are trying to sell the used gateway systems for just under or the same price as a new 7805u. I don't get it. I'll keep looking. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on a new deal that I wasn't aware of.

It is a rare to own a 7805U with WUXGA screen, as it is very much the same with many 7811FX, I have the feeling that the price will not fluctuate much, used and new, for this series.

Look into the 171FX or the 6860FX series of gateway, you might get some decent offers.
