9300 problem

I am having several problems with my 9300 on XP. Firefox 3.08 or Itunes will not completely launch. I double click the icon, the hard drive starts running but then it stops. I see the firefox process running in the Task Manager, but not the application itself. I can not kill the process. The same problem happens with Itunes. I can not reboot or shutdown the laptop. I have to hold the power button to force it to shutdown. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I have defragged the hard drive, no problems detected. I am using the free version of AVG for antivirus.vAny idea what the problem could be?

May be there is another relation somewhere, but I had to remove AVG in a few of my comps last few weeks, due to unexplained behaviours, like not connecting, or connecting but no internet access, programs not starting.

cheers ...

Yeah I started having problems with AVG. It would give error messages. I will look into this some more. If nothing else works, I may have to reinstall XP. I don't feel like doing that tho.

If you do not have a restore partition, I would suggest making a slipstreamed install disk which you can already have all the drivers etc installed. Makes the re-install alot faster for you.

program to use (free) is called nlite it will basically allow you to copy your dell disk, add drivers and updates and create a new ISO file.

I done it for several of my computers and it is great.

it may take a few tries to fine tune your disk but bear in mind you can't exceed the disk capacity with too many updates/drivers

I had to do the same, and I still have to reformat my desktop at home because AVG has messed up a few programs on me.

10 Mbit Service and Rogers holds it to that as you can see.

The extreme edition which supposed to be 18 Mbit is 2x the price

Rogers Wireless has the best coverage and being GSM means much better World Wide use.

They cap the Upload as well.

still it's better than my DSL line which is maxed at 4.5 Mbit up and @ 600K down
It will be years before Ma Bell improves speeds in my area.
