No idea where to start

Ok, Im looking to get my girlfriend a laptop for college. She is 20 and it will be mainly for the internet, homework (powerpoint, word, excel etc.) burning cd's etc. not gaming or anything like that but normal college kid stuff. What do you recommend I really dont want to spend over $700. And im confused about wireless? There is one main computer in the house. Will I need to get a wireless router to get the laptop to connect to the internet in the bedroom? Thanks in advance

so light weight, small screen side and long battery life.

I'd recommend some of the latest netbooks and 13 inch models.

I'm currently reviewing the OCZ DIY Neutrino and it sounds like it would be perfect for you.
