How bad is the XPS 13 heat issue?

I'm looking at both the Studio XPS 13 and the M1330 and I can get a xps13 better equipped for less. The only thing that is making me hesitant is the heat issues that are mentioned in nearly every review.

Does the heat issue affect performance?

Will it bother me? (I will have this on my lap and I'm a guy)

Should I just wait for a coupon that I can use on the m1330 so I dont have to worry about it?

Thanks

What kind of CPU are you looking at in the XPS 13?

probably just a 2.4ghz c2d. The reviews keep mentioning that it gets unreasonably hot to touch, especially on the lap.

In this day in age with this technology, there should be no reason for a notebook to get that hot. I'd avoid it if those are the reports.

The head on the XPS 1330 isnt too bad. I've only seen it get out of hand when playing a game (2+ hours) or doing a lot of video conferencing/editing.

i bought a refurbished m1330 and it didn't get that hot at all! at least not to me to the level that other people say. the vent is in the back so you can sit it in your lap and not have it blow on you. i sent it back because i think i wanted a macbook, but now i am missing it.
