keeping Vaio FW series power button active

Hello, any help would be appreciated!

The Sony Vaio FW series has it's startup button on the side & when you shut it down and close the lid the button becomes inactive (so it wont turn on in your bag etc).

I need to activate the button so I can store my laptop under a monitor shelf type deal like this (google'd monitor shelf):

and have an external monitor plugged in (HDMI) and turn on the laptop without opening the lid pressing the button and closing it again.

- I already have a desktop PC, in another room so please don't just say get a desktop!

Thanks!

Try the setting of "doing nothing when lid closes" under power management?

Thank you, but I've tried that, as the laptop will be off the settings in windows don't seem to make any difference.

I was thinking of BIOS settings?

Thanks!

Once the system is manually being powered OFF, I doubt that you can do much.

But if the comp is always "on" (plugged in) you can review other settings as "never turn off hard drive", "device not to be turned off to save power" ... this way you can wake it up with an external keyboard and mouse (allow these devices to wake up computer)
