Buying a laptop

Thread Starter
I have never owned a laptop in my life, but i am going to need one for school. I was looking around online and the best deal i could find was the Toshiba L305-S5944 at bestbuy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218071605696 I was looking at cpu benchmarks online for this particular laptop and noticed that it dominated many of the amd processors that were more expensive. I was thinking of performing a bsel mod on the laptop. Maybe someone could comment if the motherboard would be capable of accepting the mod. The one thing I am worried about with this laptop is that it seems to be larger than other laptops and doesn't have a video output. I have also heard that Toshiba laptops are not reliable and the motherboards have a tenancy of dieing. I was also thinking of add more ram and installing a solid state drive in the laptop later on when the technology has further developed and the price has come down. Also I have not done much research on the gpu, but im guessing it's probably not a very powerful? I was wonding if anyone on this forum had an opinions on my choice of laptop or if they could suggest a better laptop for about the same price.

Looks good if the price range is what you wanna spend. Yes can increase RAM and add SSD later. Yes GPU is IGP and not powerful. Should be fine for all except 3D gaming.

im typing this post on a very similar machine... it handles the everyday very well. just comes down to what you want to do with it. its not my first toshiba, they have all been good to me actually.

remeber when reading online odds are you will see more negative than positive things. people who are mad have much more incentive to be vocal.
