satellite m115-s3094 : nube need help please

hi everyone

im a nube and have no idea what im doing

iv got a toshiba laptop satellite m115-s3094 psmb0u-015007 (this is what it says on the underside)

its an old machine. not sure when it was bought.

its running xp and only has 512 ram.

can i upgrade the ram? (its very slow!!)

how much can i upgrade to?

is it a DIY job or do i need to send it in?

whats the ram called? (the speks and serial number)

where can i buy it from? any idea what it will cost?

p.s. s1 said i should change to windows 7 but i might not get all the drivers. anyone know if this is true?

you can upgrade up to 4GB of RAM. For instance, if you get 2 of these, the upgrade will cost you around $45 total: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145172

Also, memory is very easy to upgrade. You should be able to do it yourself. Typically, most notebooks will have a rectangular panel on the bottom held in with a screw. If you unscrew the screw and open the panel, you should see the memory modules. For the upgrade, take out the module already in your computer by pulling the little metal tabs holding it in gently apart. It should pop up at an angle. Then you can take it out and replace it with one of the new ones, which you then push down flat until it clicks in place. There's probably also an empty memory slot that you can put another module in, if you want.
