Sager NP9280 laughs at your desktop

Sager just came out with a notebook with the desktop x58 chipset and Intel Core i7 processor support. They tossed in an Nvidia GTX 280M and three(!) hard drives to provide a desktop replacement that will outperform most desktops out there.

The NP9280 is the world’s first Intel Core i7 processor-based desktop replacement featuring the Intel X58 chipset capable of handling the latest Core i7 Extreme Edition processor and triple-channel DDR3 memory. In addition to the state-of-the-art processor, the NP9280 boasts the fastest notebook GPU ever - the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M graphics card with both DVI and HDMI output. The unit also features an eSATA port and a 3.0 Megapxiel high resolution video camera. With the combination of all of these powerful technologies, the NP9280 is the ultimate rig for demanding enthusiasts and extreme gamers.

yeah, it's pretty huge. But a 16 pound notebook is still easier to lug around than a 40 pound desktop, so I'm guessing there's a market for it.

I want to review this.

I guess you guys have heard about the i 7 965 EX is going to the LGA-1366 socket.

Is this going to help performance or, just good for future proofing?

I hope maybe give some overclocking ability

I haven't recieved any emails or heard nothing from PCtorque about how long the wait will be or about the change.

I think at least PCTorque should get on the forums and post updates when changes/further delays happen.. I know emailing all the customers would be a task.

Thanks in advance

Well, the blokes in Hamburg have it (them). Can't wait to get to play with it sometimes in the next few weeks (hopefully)

I'll keep my dated A.W. M17. For gaming that notebook with it's single 280m GTX isn't capable of besting my 3870's in Xfire.

looks sick...it would be quite crappy if they dont allow overclocking though.

There is nothing saying that you cannot (trying) overclock anything. As long as you are game, go for it, with any machines

True. Alienware does the same thing so I use Setfsb to get my X9100 @3.06 to 3.57.

With more and more models going the way of built-in booster - like the Asus G50VT-X1 per example - that allows the users/gamers to gain a whopping 20% CPU performance gain, there is no need for notebook owners taking chance with turning their perfect machine into an expensive door stopper

Saying all this, I used to go crazy, and loving it, about pushing the envelop on any machines.

cheers ...

I've used Setfsb a few times just to "see what she can do".

I don;t make a habit of it and closely monitor my temps.

Can't afford to make payments on a brick.
