M15x, Windows 7 and Illuminated Keyboard

I decided to take my new M15x and run Windows 7 on it. I have been running Windows 7 on my primary PC for some time, and love it. So, I installed it on my m15x, ran all my updates, windows updates, drivers, and other required software. The only thing I cannot get to work is the illuminated keyboard. I followed several guides on repairing this problem within windows Vista to no avail. I have tried the registry fix, reinstalling Command Center and OSD, reinstalling the webcam, and a few other things. Nothing has worked.

All the other lights and even the OSD work flawlessly with the exception of the keyboard. Does anyone have any ideas? If all fails, I will revert back to the Vista installation, no point in having an illuminated keyboard that does not illuminate.

It may not work with Windows 7. Those drivers are Alienware specific and some features won't translate over.

Maybe

While you maybe right, I would think that the Vista 64 drivers and software would function just fine under Windows 7 just like everything else. This problem is a docummented problem under previous windows versions as well.

While I like windows 7, I bought the illuminated keyboard because I use my laptop in the dark alot. So, if I cannot get this working, I will revert back to windows Vista for the time being. I will post if I figure anything out.

Well, last night I reinstaled Vista 64. I'll make another attempt at installing Windows 7 RC1 next week when I am off work. After reinstalling windows Vista from teh recovery cd, I learned much on the order of installing the drivers. I also do not believe that all the 64 bit drievrs were included on my disc. Keyboard is illuminated again with Vista installed. I'll give it another try next week and report any status. Windows 7 is shapping up to be a nice OS.

Hi AlienVector, although we are in the testing stages
with Windows 7, we are not able to verify that it will
run all the features in our systems such as Alien FX
lighting and/or Command Center as of yet.

When an OS upgrade is released we do work
to offer the patches and drivers needed for the systems
and for AW features.

You will want to check in with My Hive and our Support
Forums once Windows 7 is released on our web site,
that is when we will be able to assist you with getting the
illuminated keyboard and other features working for you.

Almost complete for Windows 7

Well, reinstalled Windows 7 RC and so far I am having no major problems.

The one problem I am having is the OSD manager. Admitedly I have not tried to uninstall it and reinstall yet as I am real busy with life. Anyways, regardless of the OSD manager, all funstions work. Alien FX works along with the command center.
