Laptop for College

Im going to be enrolling in college in the fall and am getting a laptop as a graduation present. I don't need a monster of a machine just something that can run older games like Counter-Strike Source and Half-Life 2. I have a preference for PCs and would prefer to stay below $600. Thank you very much for any suggestions that you might have.

600 isnt a huge budget by any stretch but it could still be good enough as long as you are not wanting to think about new games.

presumably this is for working at college, the question is what kind of program are you in? that will determine more of the type of work you will be doing and the capabilities of the machine for the job
