Hey,

have a question. I have found my dream laptop by HP.
But I have no clue if the insides are as good as it looks outside.

Below is the configuration i wanted to chose. The laptop should be able to handle some serious software like CAD, photoshop and ArcGIS. Gaming a plus but not a priority. Playing movies would be a plus too.

HP dv6z series

OS: Windows Vista Home premium with service pack 1 (64 bit)
Processor: AMD Turion (TM) X2 Dual Core Mobile Processor RM-74 (2.2GHz)
Memory: 4Gb DDR2 Sustem Memory (2Dimm)
Hard drive: 320GB 5400RPM SATA Harddrive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
Graphics card: ATI Radeon (TM) HD 3200 Graphics
Display:16.0" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1366x768)
Primary optical Drive: LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
Personalisation:[For BrightView Infinity Display] Webcam Only
Networking:Wireless-G Card
Primary Battery:6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Modem Port: No modem
Productivity Software:Microsoft (R) works 9.0

Every aspect can be up- or downgraded.. So is the above one good or should some things be higher?

thanks!

Ok, so u suggest a higher graphics card, and a Athlon processor? Why the processor change, i see the Turion has higher Ghz?

Side by side comparison:

I personally recommend a better graphic card, and taking a minute hit on the CPU side.

Intel vs AMD:

. Depending on what specs
. CPU alone does not make a notebook.

Thanks!!

And both high CPU and high graphics card is not good? Or then I have to upgrade everything else? Am absollute noob here, so sorry! : )

If you can get high CPU and high GPU at a good price, by all means, go for it.

Other upgrades? - 3-4gigo ram and faster drive are what I would want to play with.

Give us a personal review of whatever system you decide on
