My 3dmark03 benchmark

Thread Starter
I remember someone wanting to compare benchmark scores but i couldn't find the thread so here is mine

My system should be below but here it is aagain anyway :
Windows XP home, 3.2 ghz, 1 gig ram, 60 gig hard drive, radeon 9600 128 mb.
video card clocked to Engine 400 and memory 227, and running the aston shell.

I had everything set to default (1024x768, No AA, Texture filtering optimal, max anisotropy 4x, vertex shaders optimal) and my score was 2924

anyone else to compare?

Hi I have a compalcl56 (voodoo m:360), heres what I got:

400/200 default settings I got 2800 w/ 3dmark03
460/230 tweaked settings I got 3164 w/ 3dmark03
cpu score was 475-500 for both

---

I used to have a mitac8335 (voodoo m:855) (this has the 9600 128mb pro)

and it got 2600 default (350/190)
tweaked it got 3100 (420/225)
cpu score was 650 (had a 3400+ athlon64 cpu)

but I returned it coz it only got 3 hr battery life and weighed around 8lbs

How much did that voodoo cost you? Is it too expensive?
Its not actually a Voodoo...its the ODM that Voodoo uses.

Voodoo does some in house tweaks (but I'm not convinced they're so great) that set it apart from the Compal (other than Voodoo's wicked paint jobs).

That machine is a great value for what you're getting. A thin and light that will play games.

thanks for your replys guys...

what would be considered a signifigant increase in 3dmark03 score? 100 or more?
Seph,

I've pulled 3300 scores with my current config (see my signature) but under extreme overclocking.

My standard fare is around 3100 with minimul overclocking. Your score is just fine for no tweaks.

I hope we see significant increases like the 5690 did with the new 9700 cards. Most other guys are just catching up to what we were getting with the 9600's (not poking, just a fact: see Rincewind's scores with his 9700 equipped Compal)

1700 dollars

i paid for the compal cl56 (its the odm of voodoo m:360)
craig is right as far as i know they just slap on nice paint and stickers ... few extra things like preinstalled stuff , noise maker, binder, etc...

my default clock/scores in 3dmark03 were 'roughly' the same as owners from the voodoo forum with their m:360... leading me to believe voodoo didnt tweak much hardware/performance wise

(yet they still manage to sell this lappy for 3500+)
the 9700 is exactly the same as the 9600, except for the fact that the core was manufactured using a low dialetric .13 micron process... this allows for the core to be significantly higher clocked than the 9600...

the 5690 and 8790 sagers with their new 9700 128mb and 256, respectively speaking... can clock the 9700 at 500core/300mem !!! (around 4000 3dmark03)

I beileve the dell XPS can clock their 9700's to that level too...

but due to the compal cl56 limited cooling (it doesnt use strong fans to expel air as good as p4 systems) it cant OC that high...

(note: the voodoo m:860, a athlon64 w/ 9700, based off the arima platform (which emachines also happens to use) is limited at around my maxium OC settings... probaly due in part to the same limitations but i cant say for sure coz i dont own it... their scores are roughly the same as mine

Unebelievable isn't it that Voodoo is getting that much for those machines?

The lapper you got has peaked my interest for sometime now. I think its the best T&L value out there right now.

I just got the 3rd one (discworld NOIR) and am playing through it, it reminds me alot of the old Tex Murphy games..I'm in the US also so had to import it from Britain..

Barnes and Nobel had Terry Pratchett in a few months ago and I had a book signed by him..my freinds sweared he was a cool guy but when i finally got up to him he had a mouth full of shrimp and hardly said two words..but i still love his books

do you leave it overclocked at all times or only when you know you want to play a game? also how long have you gone with those settings gaming or using your machine? i tend to game for hours on end, don't want to fry anything in my lappy
