E6500 screen options

Hello,

I was wondering about the E6500 screen options. The options shown for LED screens are:

15.4in Wide Screen WXGA+ (1440x900) with LED backlit
15.4in Wide Screen WXGA (1280x800) LED

I need a LED screen because the laptop will be used to outside in direct sunlight alot. Brightness is very important. Resolution however is not. After talking to Dell on the phone they told me the LED backlit is much brighter then the standard LED option. However, I am wondering if this claim is true and that their not just trying to make me get a 100 euro option I don't need.

So my question here is, if there a diffrence between the 2 LED options shown above, apart from the resolution ? If there is a diffrence in terms of screen brightness, will it be worth the 100 euro upgrade ?

Thanks.

In a nutshell, the LED back lit is performing well under low light situation, coupled with the higher resolution = worth the 100 extra euro. But if you see no need for it, save the money for something else.

So you are saying the other screen is not LED backlit ? Is there a diffrence between LED backlit and just LED ?

Yep, "back lit" claim. Unless the other one states "back lit" as well.

Alright. Do you know what does the word LED mean in the other option ? Pretty confusing if you ask me.

It is confusing and misleading. My take is either they use Led/Led Back Lit (white LEDs or RGB) in the same breath, and CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) LCD for others.

The fact they state LED and LED Back Lit constitute lousy/false advertising.

Clarify with them, before doling out the money.
