m7700/D900T Question

So I'm looking for a bit of advice.

When I turn on the laptop, my screen's seems to be completely dead. Not even a backlight. Everything else still seems to be running properly, HD spins up, Opti drives check out, and the clock on the front displays the proper time. I've checked the connections on the screen, both to the screen and to the mobo and everything seems fine. I'm guessing it's the motherboard that fried. But I'm not totally sure since the clock on the front is still cruising fine. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Try an external monitor and see if you get signal.

If you get signal it means that there is an issue with the LCD not receiving power or that it burned out.

If you don“t get any signal it could either be a dead video card or a dead motherboard.

Thanks man, tried the 2nd monitor too, no dice. The videocard I replaced the other day and it was working. I did pull the mobo to replace the power jack, I might have fried it then. Just to confirm, even if the board is fried, the clock on the front may still be working accurately?

If the clock works then the motherboard is working to some extent.

But you really should take it for proper servicing with proper equipment, some electrical problems can only be diagnosed this way.

Im not an expert on this but i am encountering the same problem and i have read that it could be the capacitors on the board that is causing the problem. thus having the fried mobo. Not sure you would want to change that out yourself since if you heat the mobo too long you could damage it. if you have any solutions to the black screen of death let me know.
