VT on DV7T

Does anyone know if the DV7T-2000 CTO has VT (virtual Technology) capability?

HP is replacing my DV9700z CTO with a DV7T-2000 CTO, but with the recent news that Windows 7 requires VT or AMD-V for XP Mode and not all of Intel's CPUs are VT capable, i've been trying to find out if HP wrote the capability in to the BIOS of the DV7T, The CPU HP is sending me is capable but i cant get a solid answer if the notebook itself has it.

My current notebook has AMD-V and i'm not willing to accept a replacement unit that has less capability than i currently have.

You might want to bring this up with HP, in writing. Let us know if you find out first.

cheers ...

Well I was able to get an answer to my question, I have a relative who is an executive VP at AMD, he was able to put me in direct contact with a firmware engineer at HP who is part of the team that writes the BIOS for HP's notebooks.

He told me that all higher end HP computers support the technology, and specifically for notebooks that includes all pavillion DV series and HDX series. he also stated that on product lines where all CPU's for that product line support VT-x or AMD-V, support for that technology is written in to the bios for that product line.

So i guess that settles that.

Today I called for the same reason dv7t-2000 and they told me its a crap shoot on whether you get it enabled or not. Nothing they can do for you if you get one that has no bios entry. Mine does not. What version of BIOS do you have installed I have F.22.a
