Exceeds filesystem size limit?

Thread Starter
My external hard drive is 500 GB, and I have 130 GB free, but when trying to download a torrent thats 6 GB or more, is says that the file exceeds the file system size limit, and cannot save properly. I do not know what this means, considering I have 130 GB free. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Your external is proably formated in FAT or FAT32. Which has just under a 2gig limit on files. If you want to go larger then that you need to change your file system to NTFS.

Will doing that erase all my content on my hard drive?

Actually, it is already in NTFS. Will changing the allocation unit size fix my problem?

OK, what is your OS? Can this OS "see" this external drive?

Give it one more try:

1. Run Command Prompt as Administrator

2. In the command prompt window, type in:
---- convert "drive_letter": /fs:ntfs

Pay attention to the ":"
